Wow, what a winter! Spring is now here and the Craft Lounge is back on every first Monday at Fleur Fabrics. Please bring something crafty to work on and come hang out with other creatives this Monday, April 6th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. The event is free - but I'd bring some money because Fleur has lots of yummy new stuff for Spring!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not be having the I *heart* Craft event this month. I do apologize for any heartbreak this may cause. We will be on our regular schedule at Fleur Fabrics starting next month (March). Till then, keep on crafting!

It's swap time!

Happy New Year! I hope your holiday season was good and crafty!

For January and February, the Craft Lounge will be held in conjunction with another event. On March 2nd we will have our regular BYOC night at Fleur Fabrics. Then in April we are cooking up something nice as a precursor to Spring Bada-bing - RVA's only large scale indie craft show.

January

The Craft Lounge will be held on Sunday January 18th at Art Works. The Richmond Craft Mafia and the Richmond Etsy Street Team are holding the 2nd annual Crafter's Anonymous Craft Swap that day from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. There will craft tables (supplies provided!) where you can work, sit, and chat with other crafters. Feel free to participate in the swap as well! Bring all those gently used or unused supplies you have lying around and swap them out for new-to-you ones. For more information on the swap, please check out http://www.RichmondCraftSwap.com.

If you want to just sit and craft, please mention this blog post at the door so you won't be charged for coming in.

February

Love is in the air and February's Craft Lounge will be held in conjunction with this year's I *heart* Craft event. The event is scheduled for Sunday February 8th from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm at 201 W. Broad Street (the same location as 2008's Fawn Shop). This is a social event for any and all crafters and lovers of craft(ers) in RVA. More details to come soon!

So, no need to sit at home and craft alone this winter. Come on out to Craft Lounge and make a new crafty friend!

December Craft Lounge

Happy Holidays everyone! December has turned out to be pretty busy for everyone so we are NOT hosting a Craft Lounge this month. Please continue to support our sponsor Fleur Fabrics! Jenny has some wonderful things in stock that you can use to make practical, handmade holiday gifts.

It's almost Holiday time!

November's craft lounge will be this Monday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fleur Fabric Boutique. Since the holiday season is fast approaching we're getting a jump on handmade holiday cards (greeting cards, invitations, place cards, etc.). Techniques on how to incorporate fabric, yarn, and ribbon to your cards with fusible webbing and even sewing will be discussed and demonstrated. I'm into recycling last years cards into new cards to give away this year and looking for more ideas - so if upcycling is your thing, come out and swap ideas!

As always, you are welcome to bring whatever you want to work on if card making isn't your thing. Bring your goods and we'll see you tomorrow!

October lounge - get your crochet on!

This Monday at Fleur Fabric Boutique, we all will be learning to crochet. If you are an experienced crocheter, please come on out and help us learn! As always, if crochet is not your thing, feel free to bring along whatever craft you'd like. The event is free and gets underway at 7:00 pm. See you there!

September Craft Lounge

We have a new home for the craft lounge. Jenny, the lovely owner of Richmond's first sewing lounge Fleur Fabric Boutique, has graciously offered us space for our next monthly get together.

Come join us at 119 N Robinson St (next to Halcyon's) from 7:00 - 9:00 pm this Monday September 8th.

The organized craft will be button pendants and badges. We'll supply plastic canvas, wire and pin backs. Please bring buttons, cutters, a folding chair if you have one and your imagination. Fleur Fabrics has a great selection of vintage buttons and some bakelite starting at only .10 cent each!

Let's get crafty people!

August Craft Lounge

Come one, come all! Tonight's craft lounge will be at the Northside Grill, see map for directions! This month the project is Button Flower Broaches. We will have scraps, buttons galore! Please bring some scissors, needles and your creativity! The fun starts at 7:00 we have two hugh booths reserved. FYI... they make a great Cuban and a great Margarita!

First let me say, the Spinach Empanadas at Gutenburg are heavenly! I got to endulge with those tasty morsels and finish up some late summer, or dare I say, Fall leather flower hair clips.

The first Craft Lounge was a success! Thanks to Sarah, Kelly and Nicole for coming to hang out and share! There was fabric yo-yo making, mini crochet lessons (Kelly, you have the patience of a Saint!), chocolate chai lattes and other wonderful fabric projects. Didn't make it tonight? What: A social get together for all crafty types. It doesn't matter what your craft of choice is, just be open to meeting others who love to craft. This first meeting will be a "Whatever Wednesday" meaning bring whatever craft project you want to work on and share with others.
(NOTE: Please be mindful that this is at a business establishment...so keep it reasonable - no open flames, compressed gases, oil based paints, etc.)
